Sokcho & Goseong Trip Overview
From December 16 to 17, 2025, I went on a 1-night, 2-day trip to Sokcho, Goseong, and Yangyang in Gangwon Province.
On December 16, 2025, the itinerary for the first day of the trip included Gapyeong Service Area, Gabo Native Chicken Restaurant, Kim Il-sung Villa, Abai Fish Market Sokcho Main Branch, and Hotel The Blue Terra.

Gapyeong Service Area – Jamba Juice
At Jamba Juice in Gapyeong Service Area toward Chuncheon, I ordered a hot yuzu lemon tea. It cost 6,800 KRW, which I did not find very satisfying. For reference, a vanilla latte (iced) costs 5,900 KRW, and a chilled pine nut latte costs 6,500 KRW.
Gabo Native Chicken Restaurant (Gabo-o Tojongdak)
Judging by the name “Gabo-o Tojongdak,” it sounds like a restaurant that specializes in chicken dishes. However, this place actually serves seafood stone-plate jjajangmyeon, Gabo-o jjamppong, and sweet and sour pork.
For the seafood stone-plate jjajangmyeon, you can choose between spicy and non-spicy. I chose the non-spicy version.
The seafood stone-plate jjajangmyeon was good. It reminded me of the stone-plate jjajangmyeon from “Paju Doljjajang.” Compared to this dish, the Paju version tastes blander.

If I visit Gabo-o Tojongdak again, I would like to try the Gabo-o jjamppong.
The road address of Gabo-o Tojongdak is 32 Haksapyeong-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea. Parking is not an issue.
Kim Il-sung’s Villa
The admission fee for Kim Il-sung’s Villa is 2,300 KRW. At the time, I did not check the price carefully. I am not sure whether the ticket price was reduced because Syngman Rhee’s Villa was under construction.
When entering Kim Il-sung’s Villa, my ticket was checked, but I do not recall my ticket being checked when entering Sherwood Hall. There is actually more to see inside Sherwood Hall than inside Kim Il-sung’s Villa.
The road address of Kim Il-sung’s Villa is 280 Hwajinpo-gil, Geojin-eup, Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. Around the villa are Hwajinpo and Hwajinpo Beach. Hwajinpo is a lake, and Hwajinpo Beach can be seen from the villa.

Abai Fish Market Sokcho Main Branch
The road address of Abai Fish Market Sokcho Main Branch is 1F, 93-8 Daepohang Huimang-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea.
Personally, I was not satisfied. There were hardly any people, both on the street and inside the restaurants.
Do people not eat around Daepo Port? What could be the reason?

Hotel The Blue Terra
I was satisfied with Hotel The Blue Terra because the room rates are affordable. The distance from Abai Fish Market Sokcho Main Branch to Hotel The Blue Terra is awkward for both walking and taking a taxi. By taxi, the fare is about 5,000 KRW.
