On January 5, 2026, I walked a round-trip route along the Cheorwon Hantangang Mulwitgil, from Goseokjeong to Sundam Valley.
Goseokjeong is free to enter, but an admission ticket is required for the Mulwitgil.
Tickets are sold at the Goseokjeong ticket office. The admission fee is 10,000 KRW. After paying 10,000 KRW, you receive a 5,000 KRW Cheorwon Love Gift Certificate. The staff working inside and outside the ticket office are very friendly. They explain things even if you do not ask.

“Mulwitgil” refers to a floating bridge. The path down to the Mulwitgil consists of stairs, and there are many of them. Goseokjeong is located next to the stairs and can be visited for free. To walk on the Mulwitgil after descending all the stairs, an admission ticket is required. In other words, even if you do not walk the Mulwitgil, you can still visit Goseokjeong for free.
At the bottom of the stairs, a staff member checked a deep pink paper wristband. The wristband is provided together with the admission ticket when you purchase it.
Scenery along Mulwitgil
I chose to walk round-trip from Goseokjeong toward Sundam Valley. At the T-shaped junction on Mulwitgil, turn right to head toward Sundam Valley. As you walk along Mulwitgil, you will also come across a riverside path. The riverside path is rocky, and because there is a lot of shade, it feels cold in winter. After passing the riverside path and returning to Mulwitgil, you arrive at Sundam Valley.
While walking, I could see patches of ice, but I did not see any fish at all.
If you visit Mulwitgil in winter, I recommend wearing clothing with a hood. There are sections where the cold air makes your ears ache, so I kept putting my hood on and taking it off as I walked.

Difference Between the Jusangjeolli Trail and Mulwitgil
If you start the Jusangjeolli Trail at the Deureuni Ticket Office, it ends at the Sundam Ticket Office. Up to this point, the columnar joints are impressive and well developed. From Sundam Valley onward, however, the columnar joints are not as satisfying, and perhaps for that reason, the area is no longer referred to as a jusangjeolli section.
The Jusangjeolli Trail offers great scenery but is physically demanding. Mulwitgil allows you to see the water up close and is less physically tiring.
Although the Sundam Ticket Office and the Sundam Valley Ticket Office are different, they are known to share the same parking lot. In other words, after finishing the Jusangjeolli Trail, you can purchase a ticket and also visit Mulwitgil. If you start early from the Deureuni Ticket Office and have enough stamina, it is possible to walk both in a single day.
Parking
The parking fee is 2,000 won for standard cars and 1,000 won for compact cars. Around the parking lot, two F-86F aircraft and one T-28A aircraft are on display.

The street address is 1825 Taebong-ro, Dongsong-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea.
