Summer Visit Overview to Namdo Flower Garden at Jaraseom Gapyeong
On June 16, 2025, I visited the Namdo Flower Garden on Jaraseom Island in Gapyeong. Namdo on Jaraseom is a great place for a walk on a cloudy day, where you can enjoy the serene water and the flowers. You can also walk to Café Jara Naru and take a break with a drink.

Namdo Flower Garden, Cafe Jaranaru, Black Sesame & Pine Nut Latte
I parked on Jungdo and walked past the Namdo Flower Garden to reach Cafe Jaranaru. The café is located on the southern end of Namdo.
It suddenly began to rain heavily, so I stayed at Cafe Jaranaru until it stopped, sipping a black sesame & pine nut latte while looking out at the Bukhan River. The latte cost 7,000 won, and I enjoyed it.
There’s a machine that takes black-and-white photos for free and prints them instantly, making it a nice keepsake.
One downside is that there’s no restroom inside the building, so you should definitely stop by any restroom you see beforehand.

The Marsh Mountain Called Jaramok
Where is the marsh mountain called “Jaramok”? As of February 6, 2026, it is not marked on Naver Map. Looking at KakaoMap, it is the mountain where the Gapyeong District Battle Memorial is located. The marsh mountain can be seen from the north of Jaraseom Island.
Why was it called “Jaramok”? When viewed through Sky View or satellite imagery, it does not appear to resemble the shape of a soft-shelled turtle (jara). What does “mok” mean? It is presumed to refer to an administrative unit from the Joseon Dynasty.
The village located to the north of the marsh mountain is called Jaramok Village. Eupnae 8-ri is Jaramok Village.
Jaraseom – Location & Parking
The road-name address for “Jaraseom” is 60 Jaraseom-ro, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. In order of proximity from this point, the areas are Seodo, Jungdo, Namdo, and Dongdo. So Jaraseom is not a single island but a group of areas.
There is a parking lot near the address above, but it’s too far to walk to Namdo from there. It’s better to drive to Jungdo and park there. The road to Jungdo is marked with lines on the ground, so you can simply follow them.
The Jungdo parking lot is clearly marked on the Google Map below. You can park there.
