The first Half of Somebody
If the film Somebody is divided into a first and second half, the first half features Young-eun and a young girl named So-hyun, while the second half shows So-hyun as an adult.
In the first half, So-hyun seems to surpass Kevin, the character from the film We Need to Talk About Kevin. Those who have seen that film will understand—Kevin is not an ordinary child. So-hyun torments her mother, Young-eun, pushing her to make a certain choice.

The Second Half of Somebody
In the second half, the film deliberately leads the audience into a moment of misunderstanding. This misunderstanding did not come across as a powerful twist to me. There is also a point that raises a question: why does Park Hae-young appear in Kim Min’s life? Although it is true that Park Hae-young enters Kim Min’s life through a lie, she does not approach Kim Min as a specific target. For that reason, their meeting feels more like a coincidence.
There is no post-credits scene.
Girls’ Generation’s Yuri
Yuri of Girls’ Generation plays Kim Min. Kim Min works in special cleaning, and her face appears bare and unadorned. Yuri looks completely different from her stage persona, and the image of Girls’ Generation did not come to mind at all. It was good to see her purely as an actress.
Lee Seol, My punch-drunk boxer
The Korean title of the film Somebody is Invasion. The title Invasion seems to represent Park Hae-young entering Kim Min’s life and crossing personal boundaries. Who is the actress playing the intruder—the one who crosses the line—Park Hae-young? Actress Lee Seol played Ji-yeon in the 2019 film My punch-drunk boxer. Even though I had seen My punch-drunk boxer, I did not recognize her while watching Somebody.
Why I Watched Somebody
The film Somebody was released on March 12, 2025, and I watched it at the theater on March 14. The reason I chose to see the film was the face of actress Kwak Sun-young on the movie poster. She plays Young-eun. I grew fond of Kwak Sun-young through her role as Lee Ik-sun in the drama Hospital Playlist.
