I ordered the Sigol Makguksu. The name of the restaurant is the same as the name of the dish. The price is 9,000 won. You can also order different portions depending on the amount: so (small) or gop (large). The small size is 7,000 won, and the large size is 11,000 won.

Sigol Makguksu becomes either a mul-makguksu (broth-based buckwheat noodles) or a bibim-makguksu (mixed noodles) depending on how much dongchimi broth you add. You season it to your taste with sugar, vinegar, and dongchimi broth.

The toppings include shredded cucumber, a slice of boiled pork, and half a boiled egg. There is a generous amount of ground sesame seeds, so when you chew it well, it tastes nutty and rich. That’s why the flavor of this restaurant’s makguksu that lingers in my mind is “nutty.”

The chongtteok (buckwheat rolls) seemed like they would be tastier than the bindaetteok (mung bean pancake), but I didn’t order either. The prices are 10,000 won for bindaetteok and 11,000 won for chongtteok.

There are winter-only menu items such as sagol mandu-guk (dumpling soup made with beef bone broth) and mandu jeongol (dumpling hot pot). If I visit in winter, I’d like to try them.
